Uranus has a peculiar green color due to the absorption of red wavelengths by the abundant methane in its atmosphere. Uranus was magnitude 5.7 and 3.6 arcseconds in angular diameter when this image was obtained using a 203 mm f/7 newtonian and Philips ToUcam webcam @ f/27 (Televue 2x barlow and extension tube) on June 28, 2003.
Neptune was only magnitude 7.8 and 2.3 arcseconds in diameter when this image was obtained with a 203 mm f/7 newtonian and an unmodified Philips ToUcam webcam @ f/27 (Televue 2x barlow and extension tube) on July 4, 2003. Uranus and Neptune are so small and faint that little or no detail can be detected with my equipment. Nevertheless, it is exciting to capture images of planets so far from us. One or more satellites of both planets are marginally in reach of visual detection with an 8" scope. However, they are probably beyond the level of detection for the scope and ToUcam.
