Welcome to the website for the Provost & Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic affairs is the chief academic officer of the University of New Mexico.  The Provost oversees the activities of the main campus schools and colleges as well as the Vice President’s for Research, Student Affairs, and Equity and Inclusion.  The Provost also oversees Graduate Studies, Enrollment Management and all aspects of academic personnel and curricula.  Working with the President, the Executive Vice President for Administration, and the Chancellor of the Health Sciences Center, the Provost coordinates main campus academic planning and budgeting of the University of New Mexico.

The current Provost, Dr. Chaouki Abdallah, assumed his responsibilities on July 1, 2011.  More information about his background may be found here. Student Success Summit: Foundations of Excellence Midpoint Review -

The summit will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on February 7, 2013, in Ballrooms A and B of the Student Union Building (SUB). Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. The summit will include a keynote address by Dr. George Kuh, "Implementation Matters: Insuring That Promising Practices Are Effective," and presentations from each of the nine committees. Finalists Announced for Law School Dean Search

Provost Abdallah has announced four finalists for the Dean of the School search. The candidates will be interviewing during the weeks of March 4th and March 18th. Please click here for more information.   

UNM Academic Leadership Academy (ALA)

On behalf of President Frank, IVPR McGraw, EVP Harris, the Provost is pleased to announce the newly conceived UNM Academic Leadership Academy (ALA), an element of shared governance at UNM and a training ground for our future academic leaders. Full professors on our campus will have the opportunity to participate in this leadership program through which they become familiar with and participate in the workings of the Offices of the President, Provost, VP for Research and EVP for Administration.
