Welcome to the website for the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. Our office is responsible for all aspects of the vibrant teaching, research, and service activities at the University of New Mexico. Some notable facts about our institution are:
- We have a total of 1048 faculty members, more than 200 of whom have been hired over the past several years in particular areas of high need and targeted interdisciplinary focus, such as Digital Media and Film, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, and Science, Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Founded in 1889, the University of New Mexico offers more than 210 degree and certificate programs, including 94 baccalaureate, 74 masters, and 40 doctoral degrees.
- Our low student/faculty ratio- 19 to 1 – and small classes and labs mean more time to connect with teachers and peers.
- We are the only Carnegie Very High Research University designated Hispanic serving and the only one with more than 30% under-represented minority students.
- To support faculty members and help ensure excellence in our educational environment, the University of New Mexico will have approximately
$300 million in new construction underway by the end of 2009.
- In fiscal year 2007, UNM received over $298.6 million in contracts and grants for research, public service, and instruction.
- We have international programs of study for undergraduate and graduate students in Mexico, England, Spain, Germany, France, China and Latin America.
