Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS)

OIPS (http://www.unm.edu/oips/) is charged with the support, coordination and development of international links, scholarship and training across the University. With support from the Provost’s Office, and in collaboration with the University’s teaching and research units, OIPS develops programs and strategies to promote global awareness and engagement among students and faculty. The OIPS office consists of three divisions:

International Student and Scholar Services (http://www.unm.edu/oips/students.html;http://www.unm.edu/oips/scholars.html)

supports and advises incoming international students in the areas of immigration and visa services;

Study Abroad and Scholarly Services (http://unm.abroadoffice.net/index.html)

promotes and develops international training and research activities for students, faculty and staff. It oversees more than 60 exchange agreements with international institutions as well as recruiting UNM students to participate in direct exchange or faculty-led study abroad programs;

The Center for English Language and American Culture (CELAC) (http://www.unm.edu/%7ecelac/)

is a self-funded division of OIPS that promotes and teaches English and American culture through a broad range of classes and programs. It is the only Intensive English Language program in the state of New Mexico.
