Wynn Goering has been a student, faculty member and administrator during his ten-year tenure at the University of New Mexico.
Prior to his current appointment as Vice Provost, Goering held the position of Associate Provost for Academic Affairs from July 2005 to June 2007. Prior to that he served for two years as Special Assistant to President Louis Caldera, including an interim appointment as Vice President for Advancement. He has also served UNM as an adjunct professor and development officer at the Anderson School of Management and as the Interim Executive Director of UNM’s branch campus in Taos.
Goering came to UNM from Bethel College in Kansas, where he was Academic Dean from 1991 to 1997. He has taught American literature at Bethel College, McPherson College, and the University of Chicago, with research interests in 19th century historical fiction; and business ethics and strategy at the Anderson School. He is an MBA graduate of Anderson and holds masters and doctoral degrees in English from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in English and Music from Bethel College.
