As Chief of Staff , Melissa Vargas oversees a wide range of executive and project support for the Provost and units within Academic Affairs. She oversees all staff personnel matters within the Office as well as those within Academic Affairs that need input at the executive level. Specific responsibilities include oversight of major initiatives, communication and reporting.
As Strategic Planner, Ms. Vargas oversees and advises the Provost, Deans and Vice President’s on main campus capital priorities, budgets, facility and master planning as well as main campus capital projects. She currently serves as the Interim Chair of the Main Campus Space Allocation Committee and as a member of the Learning Environments, Campus Development, Student Housing and Wayfinding Committees. Beginning in the Fall of 2011, Ms. Vargas will serve in a project management role for the process of developing an Academic Plan for Main Campus.
