Learning Styles
Go directly to links

We all have different ways of processing information. We all have different styles of learning. Some people learn best through hands-on experience. Some learn by listening while others prefer to learn visually. Some people like to go step-by-step; others need to see the big picture before the steps makes sense. Some students like factual information and detail, yet others prefer theories and general ideas. The following picture might help illustrate the differences in the ways people perceive things:

Some see a flock of birds, others see antelope, and others see jack rabbits. It is easy to understand how different students understand different things even though they are in the same class. To add to the puzzle, teachers have different teaching styles. Often, we can't change the way a teacher teaches, but we can understand how we learn. The following links will take you to different sites in which you can explore not only your learning styles but also your personality styles. Obviously no test can tell you who you are, but these two tests might help you learn how you learn.
