The Anthony and Patsy Romo Award was established in 2001 through the Maxwell Museum Association by Association members Anthony Lawrence Romo and Johanna Romo, D.D.S., to honor their parents’ many years of public service and unwavering commitment to scholarship and education. This award is not being offered during the Spring 2004 semester.

Nature/Requirements of the Award
Annual Award of $300, Dinner with the Romo family and student’s dissertation advisor plus a public lecture in March

• Post-masters student in any sub-field admitted to the doctoral program

Student Self-Nomination Procedure

• Submit self-nomination materials to the sub-field graduate student representative
• Submit letter of intent providing a title and a brief description of the lecture that will be presented.
• Provide a copy of a Curriculum Vita

Sub-field Nomination Procedure

• Ascertain that potential candidate is eligible
• Ascertain that the candidate is able to give a public lecture in March
• Be prepared to make a short presentation on the candidate’s qualifications at the next faculty meeting
• Be prepared to introduce the successful candidate to the audience before the talk
• Forward the name of the selected candidate and a copy of the nomination materials to the Graduate Committee for a final decision who must submit a nominee to Maxwell immediately so they may schedule a lecture in March

Responsibilities of the Romo Awardee
Prepare for the Public Programs Coordinator of the Maxwell, no later than mid February

• Name of Candidate as s/he wishes it to appear in print
• Title of talk
• Brief description of the talk and any audio-video equipment needed
• Short biography for publicity purposes
• List of people to be invited
• Give the lecture on the selected date, bearing in mind that the presentation is for a general audience

Responsibilities of Sub-field from which Awardee is Selected

• Inform the successful candidate immediately of his/her responsibilities (above)
• Assign the winner as necessary in preparing an appealing lecture for a general audience
• Assign a sub-field faculty member to introduce the winner to the audience
