Arturo Ramirez is a Southwestern Artist who found his niche painting on Gourds. Being a native of New Mexico, Arturo is the Southwest.
Arturo paints gourds that are one of a kind. They are all hand painted by Arturo and he does this free-hand! There are no two alike. EVER! Each piece is a Unique, One-of-a-Kind Creation!
With the help of his family, Arturo actually starts each creation with the planting of the gourd seeds in his backyard.
Here are a few pictures of some of his work. Someday I will take pictures of the garden and of him getting the gourds ready for painting. Below is a picture of Arturo at a show in Santa Fe. Notice the detail of his work on the gourds. Arturo cuts out the tops into different shapes to bring a further uniqueness to his work.
UPDATE: I created this site back in the early 90's and lots has changed since then. Now, my webpage is a tad old fashioned! HUH? Hi - my name is Angela and Arturo is my brother. I am Retired! I retired from The University of New Mexico. I was a Systems Analyst, aka Systems Administrator, at IT, Information Technologies. My final act at UNM was as the Manager of the Student Field Agent Program which we created and implemented! I also became Certified as a Paralegal and sometimes work free lance in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our hometown is Springer, New Mexico, a small ranching community in the north eastern part of the state. I love that place!
Here is a picture of my friends and I, Angela, Madonna & Mela at the Krewe of Orpheous' Mardi Gras Ball in New Orleans, officially called Orpheuscapade. I was fortunate enough to be asked to be a member of the Krewe of Orpheous by a wonderful friend and I took my friends. I was on the largest and last float, Zeus!!! The Krewe of Orpheous' spectacular appearance and the Orpheuscapade is always held on the evening of Lundi Gras. Here is a great link for more MardiGras!
Here are some pictures of my son and I on our vacation to Scotland . We ended our trip in Edinburgh at the Military Tattoo!! AWESOME!!!
