Transfer Requirements
Admission From Other Accredited Institutions:
For transfer students, admission will be based initially
on the transcript from previous school(s). You must first file
your application for admission through the Office of Admissions,
University of New Mexico, Albuquerque,
Nm 87131.
That office will screen the transcripts for the Fine Arts admission
requirements.
Portfolio Requirement:
As a provision of admission to the art studio program, you must
present a portfolio of your work for placement.
Your portfolio should include 12 to 15 pieces of your best and
most current work. It should be matted and mounted and professionally
presented. Slides are acceptable, especially for large, three-dimensional
work, but otherwise, actual work is preferred.
Your placement in the appropriate level of your studio area will
depend on your portfolio. Your portfolio should also reflect that
you have had instruction equivalent to Art St 106, Drawing I,
Art St 121, Two-Dimensional Design, and Art St 122, Three-Dimensional
Design, which are prerequisite to higher level course work.
The portfolio review is usually held during an in-person interview
with the Undergraduate Art Advisor. This would be held during
the week before the Fall and Spring semesters begin or during
the semester prior to admission.
To make an appointment for the portfolio review and advisement,
call (505) 277-4817.
