Marian Berg, Art Education graduate student and nurse, traveled to Haiti as part of a medical group. She writes:


"I felt strongly drawn to help out in Haiti after the earthquake. There was no question in my mind and heart that it was important for me to go there. It is so close to the U.S., and the one of the poorest countries in the Western hemisphere. At night, I had dreams about the people in distress there, especially the children. After two weeks of searching for medical groups going to Haiti, I was becoming frustrated at flights cancelled at the last minute. I was finally able to locate an organization that was going on the dates that I had available in my work schedule. They weren’t able to help with my travel expenses, but at least it was a group I could travel with so I wouldn’t be by myself." Read more
