Dr. Laurel Lampela
Dr. Laurel Lampela is an Associate Professor in the Art Education Program, Coordinator of the Masley Art Gallery, and a member of the Women Studies faculty at UNM. Her scholarly interests include quality instruction in visual arts education that includes information relating to the understanding of lesbian and gay content in artists' works and researching the work of historical and contemporary lesbian artists. Prof. Lampela's creative work involves the construction of hybrid realities through digital collages and solar prints. Prior to her tenure at UNM, Prof. Lampela held appointments at Cleveland State University and at Marshall University. She also taught art for several years at the elementary and high school levels. Prof. Lampela is co-editor of From Our Voices: Art Educators and Artists Speak Out About LGBT Issues. She has authored a book chapter and numerous articles for such journals as Studies in Art Education, Visual Arts Research, Art Education, The Journal of Gay and Lesbian Issues in Education, Taboo: A Journal of Culture and Education, and School Arts. Dr. Linney Wix
Dr. Linney Wix is an Associate Professor in the Art Education Program. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Thought and Socio-Cultural Studies from the University of New Mexico (2003), her M.Ed. in expressive therapies from Lesley College (1980) and her B.A. in social work and B.F.A.from the University of Montana. She joined the University of New Mexico Art Education Program's faculty in 1990 teaching in and subsequently directing Art Education's former Art Therapy Emphasis. She teaches from a multi-disciplinary perspective drawing from studio traditions, Archetypal Psychological Theory and therapeutic and student/artist approaches to art education. Her research attends to the roles of the studio and the imagination in meaning-making in art therapy and art education. She presents and publishes on these topics. Linney's creative work is in painting and ceramics. She is a Registered Art Therapist (A.T.R.) with the American Art Therapy Association and a licensed professional art therapist (L.P.A.T.) in New Mexico.
Dr. Nancy Pauly
Associtate Professor Nancy Pauly received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a minor in African and African-American art history. She has a M.A. from the University of Minnesota where she focused on curriculum development and B.F.A. from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana with an emphasis in drawing and painting. Nancy has studied art and international social issues in Nicaragua, Cote D'Ivoire, Namibia, and the Philippines. While Dr. Pauly has studied and used DBAE curricula, she advocates for providing students with learning experiences and studio practices that are derived from students' experiences, diverse artistic sources, anthropology, sociology, visual cultural studies, and issues-based art education.

Professor Emeritus Dr. Howard McConeghey
Professor Howard McConeghey received his Ed. D. from Michigan State
University. He is most
noted for translating the ideas of Jungian, post-Jungian, and
archetypal psychology into art education and art therapy.
Professor Emeritus Dr. Peter Smith
Professor Peter Smith received his Ed. D. in art education from
Arizona State University. Professor Smith is past
President of the Seminar for Research in Art Education of the NAEA. His
main
research interest is in the history of art education. He has published
widely, including his most recent book, The History of American Art
Education. He
has exhibited his creative work of opaque
watercolor widely and his work is in many public and private
collections.
Professor Emeritus Dr. Jim Srubek
Professor Jim Srubek received his Ph.D. in art education from Penn
State University. Professor Srubek's primary
interest is in creative work in the medium of porcelain ceramics, which
he has exhibited nationally. He studied the traditional Japanese method
of
porcelain in Japan with a National Living Treasure, Inoue Manji Sensei.
