Victoria Bryers, ARTE graduate student,
wins Best of Show at the New Mexico
Veterans Art Exhibition

Victoria Bryers, a graduate student in the Art Education Program at the University of New Mexico, received the Best of Show
Award
at the New Mexico Veterans Art Exhibition at NM Expo. Bryers received the award for her handmade books.

Bryers served 30 years in the U.S. Coast Guard reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer. She served on active duty and in the reserves. Shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, Bryers, who was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, was called back to active duty.

She is now working on her M.A. in Art Education degree leading to Visual Art K-12 Licensure. Bryers hopes to receive an art teaching position in the Albuquerque area after graduation.
