Vice-President
The Vice-President, also known as the President of the
Senate is responsible for communications between
student organizations and the student government.

Vice-Presidential Duties:
• Serves as the President of the Senate
• Trains the new Senators
• This includes parliamentary procedure,
legislative writing, appropriation writing, and
general campus policies.
• Produce a Senate Legislative Manual to
assist the Senators in carrying out their duties
• Assign Senators student organizations
• Assign Senators to an executive agency
• Advise and oversee three Senate ad-hoc
committees
• Appoints a Senator to the Student Fee
Review Board
• Appoints a Senator to the Student Publications
Board
• Appoints a Senator to the Student Union Building Board
• Holds Senators accountable for contacting their student organizations
• Appoints Senators to serve on one of three Senate standing committees, Finance Committee, Steering and Rules, and Presidential Appointments
• Acts in place of ASUNM President if he/she is not available
• Writes a bi-weekly column for the Daily Lobo
• Hire both a Vice Presidential Aide and Senate Secretary
• Send changes in the ASUNM Lawbook and/or Constitution to the University Counsel for review
• Hold office hours each week
• Prepare agendas and business for the full Senate meetings, and for all three committees
