Overview

You will study major psychological concepts and laws concerning learning and memory. These concepts include, e.g. habituation, sensitization, classical conditioning, operant conditioning, schedules of reinforcement, recognition memory, and spatial and relational learning. Since memory is a function of the brain and much progress has been made on neural mechanisms of memory, this course will emphasize the relationship between the brain and learning/memory. The text book serves as a good source for studying learning and memory at the level of behavior while additional material on neural mechanisms will be provided primarily through lectures.
