Judith Espinosa Makes Presentation at America Walks Regional Pedestrian Conference - Judith M. Espinosa, Director of the ATR Institute, made a presentation recently at the America Walks Regional Pedestrian Conference.  Her presentation entitled, "From the Main Streets to Mean Streets and Back Again," discussed initiatives to increase pedestrian safety and the Safe Routes to School Initiative for school-aged children at the America Walks Regional Pedestrian Conference.  She provided information about the ways states are reallocating resources to create a more balanced transportation system to provide access and mobility for all—regardless of whether they walk, bike, ride transit, or drive—and how these initiatives can be adopted by New Mexico.  "From the Main Streets to Mean Streets and Back Again" (pdf)

Ms. Espinosas presentation was part of the America Walks Regional Pedestrian Conference held on April 29-30, at the Alvarado Transportation Center in downtown Albuquerque.  The Conference theme was Revolución en Las Calles, (Revolution in the Streets).  This public forum was designed to make the connection between transportation choice, pedestrian safety, and community health.

NM Governor Reappoints Judith Espinosa to Second Term as Interstate Stream Commissioner - Governor Bill Richardson reappointed Judith Espinosa, Director of the ATR Institute, as well as four other commissioners to a second term of the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission.  The Interstate Stream Commission is charged with protecting New Mexico's right to water under eight interstate stream compacts, ensuring the State complies with each of those compacts, as well as water planning.
