JD Shaw joins UNM Faculty!
JD Shaw, UNM's new horn professor, is known throughout the world as a founding member of the Boston Brass and has performed with this exceptional group since 1995. He has also performed in several major orchestras including the Boston Symphony and the Vienna Philharmonic.
In addition to his credentials as a horn performer and teacher, Professor Shaw is the Brass Program Director and Music Arranger for the Phantom Regiment, the reigning Drum Corps International World Champion. Professor Shaw acts as both professor of horn and as assistant director of Bands, working with our current faculty to help develop the band program.
The latest UNM Wind Symphony recording, Fascinating Ribbons, has been released. This recording includes the music of Joan Tower, Roberto Sierra, Warren Benson, Carlos Surinach, Robert Linn, Jonathan Newman and Stephen Gryc. This recording is available from Summit Records.
Classic Solos for Winds is now available from Summit Records. This recording features University of New Mexico faculty members Valerie Potter, flute, Kevin Vigneau, oboe and Keith Lemmons, clarinet.
