Band Week is starting later this year! Spirit Marching Band percussionist will meet on Tuesday, August 14. The full band will meet from Wednesday, August 15 to Saturday, August 18. A more precise schedule will be announced during the summer.
The 35th annual Zia Marching Band Fiesta will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at University Stadium in Albuquerque.
The fifth UNM Wind Symphony recording, Tales of Imagination, featuring JD Shaw, UNM's Professor of Horn, has been released by Summit Records. This CD includes the music of Astor Piazzolla, Hardy Mertens, James Beckel and Rick DeJonge.
The fourth UNM Wind Symphony recording, Fascinating Ribbons, is also available. This recording includes the music of Joan Tower, Roberto Sierra, Warren Benson, Carlos Surinach, Robert Linn, Jonathan Newman and Stephen Gryc. This recording is available from Summit Records.

Auditions for concert bands and orchestral winds and percussion will be held on August 16 (woodwinds) and August 17 (brass and percussion). If you are NOT going to be studying with a UNM faculty member, auditions consist of a prepared piece or pieces of your choosing that demonstrate what you do best musically. If you will be studying with a faculty member, we strongly urge you to contact that person and find out what excerpts will be required for your audition.
