1/ In 1921: Catron County was organized from part of Socorro County; Harding
County was organized from parts of Union and Mora Counties.
2/ In 1917: De Baca County was organized from parts of Chaves, Guadalupe, and
Roosevelt counties; Lea County was organized from parts of Chaves and Eddy
counties; Roosevelt County annexed a strip of land from Chaves County.
3/ In 1981: Cibola County was organized from a part of Valencia County.
4/ In 1919: Hidalgo County was organized from a part of Grant County.
5/ In 1949: Los Alamos County was formed from a part of Sandoval and Santa Fe
counties.
6/ Part of Rio Arriba County annexed to Santa Fe County and part of Santa Fe
County annexed to Rio Arriba County prior to 1950.
7/ Part of Sandoval County annexed to Santa Fe County prior to 1950.
