*    Withheld to avoid disclosing confidential data.  Data that are not disclosed for individual industries are always
included in the totals.  Therefore, the individual industries may not sum to the totals.
1   Data by industry from 2001 forward are not generally comparable with industry data for prior years posted elsewhere
on this web site.  Prior to 2001, industry categories are based on the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system.
This system was replaced  with the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).  The "Grand Total", along
with the "State Government" and "Federal Government" sectors are the exceptions.  Data for these three categories
are comparable from 1990 forward.  In addition, data are by location of the employer's establishment and represent
counts of workers covered by New Mexico unemployment insurance (UI) law and related statutes.  For a complete
definition of covered employment see the attached definition sheet.
2   The unclassified category may include data for other industries that were withheld for reasons of confidentiality.
3   Beginning in 2001, employment in Native American enterprises and Tribal Government were included in the Local
Government sector.  Prior to 2001 they were classified by kind of business, primarily in the services sector.
