Visual Resources Association (VRA) - an organization established to further research and education in the field of visual resources.

Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) - a society that takes the leadership role in providing resources and services for the visual arts and architecture information community.

Special Libraries Association (SLA) - an association of librarians dedicated to putting specialized information to work to attain the specific goals of their organizations including museums, colleges and universities.

American Indian Library Association (AILA) - a library community action group committed to disseminating information about Indian cultures, languages, values, and information needs to the larger library community.

Visual Arts and Architecture Associations

College Art Association (CAA) - an organization established to promote excellence in scholarship and teaching in the history and criticism of the visual arts and in creativity and technical skill in the teaching and practices of art.

Computers and the History of Art (CHArt) - a society of individuals interested in the application of computers to the research and study of the visual arts and design.

Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) - a society that encourages scholarly research in the field of architectural history and promotes the preservation of significant architectural monuments that are an integral part of our worldwide historical and cultural heritage.

Bunting Visual Resources Library Digital Collection - Images from the Bunting Library digital collection are now available on UNMDID.

Licensed Resources:

ARTstor - Image library licensed at UNM by UL & BVRL.

Scholars Resource - Over 100,000 images, many of which are licensed for educational use by BVRL. Contact BVRL staff for access and account information.

American Memory - a project of the Library of Congress offers a range of digital material, including photographs, maps and manuscripts.

Great Buildings Online - provides extensive images and information on architecture around the world.

Luna Commons - provides access to map and gardens & landscape image collections through a browser interface which may also be licensed by institutions. Additional public collections, such as NASA images are available through links at the bottom of this page.

MIT's ArchNet - Contains a collection of images highlighting historic and contemporary Islamic Architecture.

New Mexico's Digital Collections - hosted by the Center for Southwest Research, UNM, presents pictoral and graphic image collections focused on the history and culture of New Mexico.

NYPL Digital Gallery - provides free and open access to over 700,000 images digitized from the New York Public Library's vast collections, including illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints, photographs and more.

Smithsonian Institution Research Information System (SIRIS) - provides access to an image gallery with over 300,000 images from Smithsonian archives and museums. Searchable by culture (Latino Culture, Native Americans, etc.) and repository (Archives of American Gardens, Freer Gallery, etc.)

Perseus - digital library of classical art and archaeology, located at Tufts University.

World Images - San José State University's extensive public image gallery consisting of works of art from various time periods and locations. Most images in this collection are of presentation quality.
