Blue Mesa Review is published annually in the Spring.

While we DO accept submissions year round, manuscripts received during the summer months are often processed more slowly.

With a rotating Editorial Board, each of our magazines is fresh and unique. In general, we are seeking strong voices and lively, compelling narrative with a fine eye for craft. We look forward to reading your best work!

Format: While we carefully consider every piece we receive, we do request the courtesy of clearly typed, double-spaced manuscripts (for prose) in standard 12-point font. Please number your pages consecutively and include your name and contact information on the first page. To ensure focus on the work in question, submissions are generally read blind. Succinct cover letters are appreciated; upon acceptance of a piece we will contact you for a full bio and electronic copy.

Length: Limit four poems or six pages of poetry or one prose submission of fewer than 7500 words. Please wait for a response before submitting more work.

Simultaneous Submission: We do accept simultaneous submissions, but ask to be informed immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.

Book Reviews and Interviews: Please query.

Reply: Response time is two to six months. Please include an SASE with mailed submissions for response only. Blue Mesa Review does NOT return manuscripts.

Rights: We purchase first North American serial rights and non-exclusive electronic rights for our website, if we choose. Blue Mesa Review does not consider work that has been previously published in print or online. Rights revert to the author upon publication.

Payment: Contributors receive two copies of the issue in which their work appears and the option to purchase additional copies at a discounted rate.
