2.7 Subject: USE OF THE UNIVERSITY'S NAME AND SYMBOLS

Applicability
This policy applies to the use of the University's name and official symbols, including the University seal.
Policy
The official seal of the University of New Mexico is the symbol of the authority and corporate signature of the Board of Regents and may be used in its impressed or embossed form only on diplomas, academic transcripts, enrollment certifications or other official University documents for which certification is requested by the federal government or a foreign government. The seal cannot be altered or modified except by authorization of the Board of Regents.
Implementation
The Office of the University Secretary and the Office of the Registrar shall have custody of the seal for the purposes described in this policy. The President of the University may determine additional or different custodians for the seal. Custodians of the seal shall be named in the Regents' Policy Manual.
