A Xena: Warrior Princess Fanfiction



The breeze was light on the early afternoon in the spring. As it blew the lighter strands of the warrior’s dark hair, it breathed new life into her brain. It’s not that she didn’t enjoy the bard’s presence. The girl just seemed to never run out of things to talk about. The warrior sighed and half rolled her eyes.

“You’re not listening to me are you?” Gabrielle said stopping to look at her companion.

“Oh yeah.” Xena said. Gabrielle glared at her with a half smile. “Okay, I’m trying.” Xena lost focus on what the bard was saying again as she noticed a small rabbit hop into the middle of the road. Her eyes widened as she suddenly realized how hungry she was. Her hand moved to her Chakram.

“What are you doing?” Gabrielle asked, glancing between Xena and the rabbit.

“No. No. Xena, the next village is just up the road. Please don’t make me sleep out here again before we get new sleeping furs. Besides, you just ate lunch.”

“But I’m hungry now.” Xena responded raising her weapon to strike.

“Xena!” Gabrielle yelled reaching for the other woman’s arm. Startled by the suddenly loud noise, the rabbit scampered off into the brush. Xena dropped her arm and looked at Gabrielle accusingly.

“You let him get away.”

“You let the sleeping furs get swept away.”

“I was busy keeping us from being killed!”

“There were only three of them. You could have managed. Now come on. If we hurry we can be in the next village in time for dinner.” Gabrielle said with her best winning smile. Xena watched the young woman continue down the road, her mouth hanging open in exasperation.

When the warrior caught up with Gabrielle, she shoved her sideways. Gabrielle shoved back. Behind them, the little rabbit watched as the two shoved each other back and forth before the blonde decided to end the play-fight by kissing the other woman and skipping off down the road ahead of her.
