Our open house celebration has already come and past, you missed out! The information listed below is still listed however, as a reference to what was offered.
On Friday September 12th 2008 from 9am-4pm Counseling, Assistance & Referral Service is holding a open house in celebration of it's 25th Anniversary. Throughout the entire day the department's staff will be available to talk with guests, give tours of the department and provide CARS services information [refreshments will be served throughout the day].
If you plan on attending please help us determine a head count filling out our online RSVP form here. RSVP'ing is recommended to ensure adequate room for everyone that wishes to attend but it's not required!
From 9am to 12:00pm CARS staff will be available to talk with visitors/guests about CARS services and give tours of the department.
At 12:30pm there will be the official 25th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony featuring multiple guest speakers.
From 2:00 to 3:00pm Louie & Lucy Lobo will be at CARS! Bring your camera to get your picture taken with them!
At 3:30pm the door prize drawings will be conducted by a anonymous CARS visitor/guest.
From 3:30pm to 4:00pm CARS staff will be available to talk with guests about CARS services and give tours of the department.

Parking for the open house event is available free of charge, on a first come first served basis. To obtain a permit to park come to CARS [Latitude: 35.08847 & Longitude: -106.624047] and temporarly park your vehicle in the CARS designated spots on the West side of building to obtain an official UNM parking permit. After you have obtained a parking permit then you will need to park your vehicle in one of the regular UNM parking lots surrounding our building.
The nearest larger parking areas to the department are the C lot located on the South East corner of Lomas & Yale and the T lot located on the South West corner of Lomas & University.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The parking permit you get receive from CARS is not valid on Mesa Vista road which is the street CARS is located on (it is permit parking only and regulated by our city Parking Enforcement Division). The permit you receive from CARS is only valid in official UNM parking areas that are designated by signs and require a permit using a letter (I.E. C,J,F,T). Please double check to ensure you are parked in an official UNM parking area! There are multiple Greek parking lots near our building which require a permit and vehicles parked in them are not ticketed but towed!
Listed below is a close up map of the T lot and it's proximity to CARS. It is recommended you use this lot as it usually has parking available unlike most other UNM parking lots. If you park in the T lot then to get to CARS all you need to do is cross University (headed east) at the light, then head south up the hill on University Blvd. until you get to Mesa Vista Road and then make a left (heading East). We are located on the right hand side of the street at 1800 Mesa Vista which is just a two minute walk from University Blvd.
