Fetch for Macintosh

Fetch for Macintosh is a graphical FTP program. All Learning Center Macintosh machines have Fetch as their FTP program. Fetch is similar to saving and opening files from within a word processor such as Microsoft Word.

1.Launch Fetch, double click the Fetch icon located in either the Network or Network Access folder on the Macintosh HD. An alias to Fetch should be
located in the Apple Menu.

Fetch will launch and display a dialog baox asking for a New Connection.

2.Type the remote hostname in the Host box, the username in the User ID box and the password in the Password box. The Directory box can be left blank.
In this case ftp.iupui.edu was used as a remote host, this is the IUPUI Anonymous FTP Server. Anonymous was used for a username and the password is
your complete email address.

3.Once the connection is established, Fetch will display a directory and file listing of the remote host.

Files are designated with a tiny document image, illustrated in this image under the Name folder. Directories are designated with miniature Macintosh folders.

To change to a lower level directory, simply double click on the directory to which you want to change.

The Macintosh pop up menu, at the top of the directory/file listing, displays the current directory path in sequential order. This is illustrated with /, pub, mac,
web, client, netscape the above picture. This is used to return to previous directories.

For example: Highlighting the Web line will return you to the /, pub, mac, web directory.
