Director Search

 Chicano Hispano Mexicano Studies would like to introduce Irene Vasquez as the new CHMS Director. Irene will start  effective August 2011 and we are very excited to welcome her to the department. Vasquez was will also work as an associate professor of American Studies. Thanks go to the search committee, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Office of the Provost, American Studies and CHMS for choosing an excellent new director.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Melina Vizcaino-Aleman who holds a Visiting Professorship in the English Department.  She recently accepted a tenure-track offer in the department to convene in the 2011-2012 academic year.  Melina received her PhD from the American Studies Department and has been teaching in the CHMS Program since 2004. 

CHMS part-time instructor and American Studies doctoral student, Gina Diaz, has been awarded the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship. Only 40 fellowships are awarded each year. CHMS is very proud of Gina's hard work and dedication to her own studies and the education of our students.
