Undergraduate Students
The Department of Civil Engineering offers bachelor degrees in the fields of Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Construction Management. Civil Engineering students have the opportunity to choose an emphasis in the areas of geotechnical, environmental, structural, transportation, or water resources.

Graduate Students
- The CE Department offers the following graduate degrees
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE)
- Master of Science in Construction Management (MCM)
- Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (M.Eng.)
- PhD in Engineering with a concentration in Civil Engineering
The CE Department recently introduced the M.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering option. The degree is more practice- than research-oriented and does not require a thesis. The program provides students with advanced training in civil engineering practices, valuable management training, and emphasizes oral and written communication skills. CE Student Life
UNM’s award-winning CE Department fosters a diverse and enthusiastic culture. Our faculty and staff are passionate about working with students to cultivate solid engineering and management skills. Preparing our students for the professional world or for advanced academia means promoting a professional, friendly, and forward-thinking environment. We encourage community involvement and participation in projects that prepare students for the challenges they will face as professional engineers and managers. CE students are involved in a number of projects that extend beyond the classroom walls – ranging from organizations, competitions, and activities both on campus and in the community.
Student OrganizationsStudents are encouraged to join UNM student organizations and their national affiliates because they offer valuable support, educational and professional opportunities, and serve as social outlets. Students who join organizations have the opportunity to meet new friends, explore career options, develop strong interpersonal skills, gain valuable team and leadership experience, and even make a meaningful difference in the community.
