Buy a Brick!
(And other local ideas on how you can support the C&J
Department)

Brick for the Alumni Pathway |
An
excellent way to demonstrate your support of the C&J Department
with your family's name or to commemorate the memory of a loved
one is to buy a brick for the "Alumni and Friends Pathway" that
will be installed at the historic C&J building. A 4x8 brick
with three lines of type costs $60, and 8x8 bricks also are available
for $120. Images for either brick size are optional for an additional
$20. Let us know the size of the brick and what you want
printed on it. Proceeds will go to meet the needs of C&J students
in the building. Simply fill in and print the on-line order
form, and then mail
your check and order to the Department of Communication & Journalism,
University of New Mexico, MSC03 2240, 1 University Dr., Albuquerque,
NM 87131-0001.
| Departmental
Enrichment Fund |
This fund provides monies to be used
at the Chair's discretion to support special needs that arise in
the department that were not anticipated by the regular budget.
These special needs could include financial aid to students, computer
software for classes, guest speakers for student seminars
and other events, emergency needs, and other unexpected expenses.
You can help our education mission by donating to the Departmental
Enrichment Fund, mailing your contribution to the Department of
Communication & Journalism, University of New Mexico, MSC03
2240, 1 University Dr., Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001.
| Everett
M. Rogers Memorial Scholarship |
In memory of long-time communication professor
Everett M. Rogers, who died of cancer in late 2004, the department
has established this scholarship. It supports graduate student
research and travel needs that would otherwise not be able to
be funded. Dr. Rogers already was a
famous
scholar in communication when he came to UNM in 1995 to be department
Chair and to start C&J's Ph.D. program. He was the author
of more than 30 books, including his landmark Diffusion of
Innovations, which was first published in 1962 and entered
its fifth edition in 2003. A Regents Professor since 1999, he
was named in 2002 as UNM's 47th Research Lecturer — the
highest honor the university can bestow. The department maintains
a Web page as a tribute
to Dr. Rogers. You can help C&J graduate students by sending
a contribution in honor of Dr. Rogers to the Department of Communication
& Journalism, University of New Mexico, MSC03 2240, 1 University
Dr., Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001.
| Graduate
Student Development Fund |
This fund supports graduate
student recruiting from the United States and around the world,
and it also provides recognition for outstanding achievement by
C&J's diverse students in five different fields of graduate
study. You can be part of the effort of enriching the graduate
student experience at C&J by mailing your contribution to
the Department of Communication & Journalism, University of
New Mexico, MSC03 2240, 1 University Dr., Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001.
