Family and friends are invited to attend the University Commencement ceremony on

Saturday, May 11 at 9:00 a.m., University Arena ("The Pit") .

Commencement Ceremony Guidelines

Tickets are not required of graduates or their guests to attend the ceremony. Due to limited seating, graduates are asked to bring no more than 8 guests. The ceremony lasts about 2 1/2 hours.

Cooperation Requested

The audience may not enter the graduate-seating or stage areas at any time during the program. Since professional photographers will be available, family members and guests are requested to remain in their seats, relax and enjoy the ceremony.

Commencement Photographer

A photographer from Grad Images will take candid photographs of all graduates at their special moment of recognition. Graduates who signed up on our Web site to participate will receive a free proof of this photo in the mail within 5 to 7 days following the ceremony. You may place orders or obtain answers to questions at www.gradimages.com or (800) 261-2576.

Commencement Ceremony DVDs

DVDs of the ceremony will be available for $20 per copy. Please place your order online on the Photos & Video page. Payment will be accepted in the form of check or money order only. We are unable to accept cash or credit card payments. Orders will not be processed until payment is received.

Special Needs

The University of New Mexico Arena ("The Pit") is legendary for its "pit" style seating 37 feet below ground level, however, it does not allow for individuals using wheelchairs to easily access the Pit floor. The University of New Mexico wants to ensure that all guests and graduates safely share in the experience of the ceremony and have developed the following accommodations.

Seating for guests with special needs will be available in Sections A-G on the east side of the main concourse level on a first come first served basis. There is no seating of the floor for guests; no exceptions. However, the stage is equipped with two 14-foot video screens. Sign language interpreters will be present and can also be viewed on the video screens.

Please ask your graduate to request special assistance for you when he/she signs up to participate in the commencement ceremony. Your graduate will be contacted a few weeks prior to the ceremony to make appropriate accommodations.

Flowers

Flowers are available for purchase by the Mortar Board Honor Society in the arena.
