As an Authorized Academic Training Program (AATP), the UNM continuing Educaiton Computer Program provides training prepraation for students interested in becoming a Microsoft Certified Professional: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), MCSE + Internet, Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certifed product Specialist (MCPS), or MCPS + Internet. In this 36-hour course, participants learn to create and administer group accounts and user accounts; administer permissions; manage the network resources; administer ownership of folders; administer printers and set up their environments; view security logs; use auditing functions; administer disk space and network resources; use tape back up; restore files; troubleshoot the workstation; and basic server administration. Prerequisite: Significant operating system experience. This course is designed for prospective system administrators and engineers or technical support personnel and prepares the student for Microsoft exam 70-073.

In this 24-hour course, participants learn the function and purpose of networks; open systems interconnect; major network topologies; client/server model; peer-to-peer networks; LANs and their hardware components; hardware and software configuration options with methods of sharing resources. 5203-5204 Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server Core Technologies
Participants learn the Windows NT 4.0 system strategy; configure NT; install NT; generate system policies; administer and create fault tolerant volumes, file systems, and partitions; and administer running software under the NT server. Additionally, in this 40-hour course you will also learn to administer the remote access service; configure network transport protocols; troubleshoot boot process problems; install network services on NT server; implement directory replication; and general troubleshooting. 5205-5206 NT 4.0 Server in the Enterprise
Participants learn the RISC and Intel NT server configurations; configure services for the Macintosh; implement directory replication between servers; and implement four domain models. In this 40 hour course, participants will also learn to implement disk mirroring and striping with parity; configure and install for clients based in DHCP, TCP/IP, and MS-DOS operating systems; configure Novell NetWare into Windows NT; design browsing in a WAN domain; and use the Performance Monitor. 5209-5210 Internetworking Microsoft TCP/IP on Windows NT 4.0
In this 36-hour course, participants will learn to configure and test TCP/IP; define a subnet mask; configure an NT PC to function as an IP router; assign valid IP addresses to TCP/IP host computers in diverse LANs; and configure IP parameters for DHCP clients. Participants will identify the function of cabling and bridges; view and modify the ARP cache; resolve NetBIOS names for remote hosts; install WINS; facilitate Internet browsing. Additionally, the use of TCP/IP utilities to initiate remote logon sessions, run commands, transfer files and perform terminal emulation; install SNMP; tune TVP/IP for performance; and solve configuration problems will be covered. This is a MS Solution Developer elective course which prepares you for Microsoft Certification Exam 70-069. This 20-hour course offers in-depth interactive training for developers.
