This 12-hour course continues where the Creating a Web Page course leaves off. You will learn how to improve and expand your Web pages. Topics include: Tables, Forms, Frames, Imagemaps; graphics features such as GIF transparency & animation; sound & multimedia. We will browse pages illustrating different programming techniques including CGI, Java and VB Script (this is not a programming class). 5457 Developing Web Pages Using Java

In this 24-hour class, you will use Microsoft’s Visual J++ to produce Java "applets" and integrate them into HTML Web pages to make the pages dynamic and interactive. Java is an object-oriented programming language, modeled after C++. You will get an introduction to the Java source code underlying your applets, and to Java-related topics. However, this is not a course in programming and is suitable for non-programmers. A practice lab with Visual J++ is available. Prerequisites: Creating a Home Page (5455/5155)

5459 Graphics and Photos for Web/CD

Learn how to prepare photos and graphics for web and CD based multimedia in this 12-hour course. A great class for practical information, tips and techniques using Adobe Photoshop. Learn to use Photoshop’s layers to plan your web pages. Hands-on lessons will include using index color, bitmap, threshold and ways to create simple animations. Text, button bar and tiling and background pattern creation will be covered. Also includes selecting the best file formats such as animated GIFs, JPEGs and tips for keeping the file size manageable but aesthetically interesting.
