5724 Beginning MS Excel for Office 97

Microsoft Excel’s newest version is taught in this 12-hour course. This class is designed for the beginning Excel user. The student will learn how to enter and edit worksheet data, work with multiple sheets and use shortcuts to carry out some of Excel’s powerful capabilities. Applying various functions and presenting an attractive layout with fonts and formatting are additional topics that are covered. The text used is Microsoft Office User Specialist approved courseware. Prerequisite: Beginning Windows 95 (5305/5805).

Excel has rapidly become the most popular program for financial, statistical, and mathematical computations. This Windows 95 version offers increased computing power while providing ever more simplified methods of obtaining the desired calculations. This 12-hour course examines basic concepts needed for the beginning spreadsheet user. The design of a spreadsheet is the first task. Following that are lessons in moving information, building formulas, formatting numbers as part of spreadsheet design, and improving the appearance with formatting techniques. The beginner will also be introduced to fundamental functions. Prerequisite: Beginning Windows 95 (5305/5805).

In this intense quick-paced 8-hour course, you will learn how to create range names to simplify writing formulas, work with functions to create complex formulas, annotate and format worksheets to explain data and ensure consistency. Additionally, participants will create and modify charts, set data validation charts, build error alerts and use data maps to illustrate geographic data. Prerequisite: Beginning Excel for Office 97 (5724/5824). In this 12-hour class the experienced user will learn advanced features which will allow masterful utilization of Microsoft Excel for Office 97. You will learn to sort and filter data to display and control information. Use of data table to calculate projections and use pivot tables to reorganize data will be featured. Additionally, learn to consolidate data from several worksheets into one worksheet and then link the worksheets for customized viewing. We will cover ways to automate repetitive tasks by creating and editing macros. The text used is Microsoft Office User Specialist approved courseware.
