Career Essentials

1803 Business Spanish

Communication is the foundation of understanding. You must be able to understand, or at least recognize, important business terms and phrases in order to gain the confidence of potential business partners. Forty-two percent of New Mexico’s population is Hispanic, and they spend over $4.3 billion on goods and services each year. The U.S. Hispanic market will be the largest minority group early in the next century. Companies must recognize the importance of their Spanish communications in order to tap into this growing market. Companies can enhance communication in international trade, tourism, economic development, cultural exchange, and more. The emphasis of this course will be on Spanish business communication. Mostly conversational, this class uses advanced grammar and vocabulary in Spanish. An average background in Spanish is necessary.
