Program Information
Learn the survival skills necessary for effective supervision! If you are a supervisor - or if you are hoping to move into a supervisory position - this program will help you understand the laws governing employment today and the "people skills" needed to direct and motivate your work group. Courses in the program are designed to fit into your busy schedule. Each course is one or two nights in length and can either be taken independently or as part of the certificate program.
Complete six courses from the bulleted list below - three from the Employment Law area and three from the Interpersonal Skills area - and you will receive the Supervisory Skills Certificate. Additionally, if you complete all ten courses in the series, you will receive the Advanced Supervisory Skills Certificate. Each session will provide practical information and tips that you can use right now. Please join us for these skills-building and résumé-boosting sessions.

1951 Sexual Harassment and Right to Privacy
In todays workplace, compliance with employment law is crucial to success as a supervisor. This course will cover the basics of how to comply with two areas of the law: sexual harassment and the right to privacy.
Topics include:
What constitutes sexual
harassment
Steps employees can take to stop harassment
What remedies the law provides to employees who have been
harassed
How to put policies in place to prevent sexually harassing
behavior
What the right to privacy laws say about such practices as
tapping employee telephones, requiring lie detector tests, and
drug and alcohol testing

1958 Personal, Project and Strategic Planning
This session will focus on personal, strategic, and project planning. Gain planning tips learned from the field of experience, not just from the textbooks, about the elements which are necessary in a plan that works. Learn about successful planning for reaching personal goals, for developing a strategic business plan, and for managing multiple priorities and large projects. Participants will write a plan as part of the session.
