This Division is responsible for all central accounting functions for the University. The Division is composed of a number of interrelated departments who are responsible for the following specific accounting functions: payroll, purchasing and university services, contract and grant accounting, student and cashier operations, taxation, accounts receivable, accounts payable, property accounting, general accounting, financial reporting, and finance systems management.
The Controller’s Office is the core control center for the Division. The suite of offices is located in the UNM Business Center and houses the Vice President for HSC/UNM Finance and University Controller and other supporting staff.
It is the responsibility of the Vice-President and Controller to assure compliance with all policies, rules and regulations adopted by the University or imposed by external agencies, including state and federal audit requirements, following generally accepted accounting practices. The Controller also oversees the maintenance of the official financial records of the University.
