Behavioral Self-Control Program for Windows

BSCPWIN

BSCPWIN is a Windows (3.x, 95, 98, NT) program that teaches moderate drinking skills. If you've wondered whether you should cut back, this program may be for you. We also have another page on this site that will help you decide whether or not to give this a try.

Its effectiveness has been demonstrated in a controlled clinical trial conducted in the Albuquerque area in 1995 (Hester & Delaney, 1997, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology).

The program available here is a Single User's version that allows one person to work on the program at a time. If someone other than yourself uses the program and registers him or herself, that will wipe out your personal dataset, so be careful. It is available for FREE to UNM students, faculty, and staff at UNM. To download this program, however, you must be accessing this page from within the University or through its dial-up access numbers.

If you are not able to download this program it's because you have accessed this page from outside the University system. If you wish to purchase a copy of BSCPWIN, please contact Moderation Management.

Once you have downloaded the program, run setup.exe and follow the instructions. Then open smcards.doc with your word processor and print out hard copies of the self-monitoring cards. You will use these cards to keep track of your drinking.

If you have questions or comments, please email us and we'll get back to you.
