UNM Designated Drivers Do It For Their Friends

A collaboration between UNM COSAP and Albuquerque bars, clubs, and restaurants.

The "UNM Designated Drivers Do It For Their Friends" program rewards university students for acting as a sober designated driver when socializing at local Albuquerque bars, clubs and lounges. Participating establishments also benefit from campus promotions that feature the name of the establishment as a partner in reducing the incidence and consequences of drunk driving.

Benefits for students:

  • Participating establishments provide the "DD" with free non-alcoholic drinks while serving as a sober driver for their group.
  • The student gets a pair of free movie tickets to United Artists Theaters after serving as a "DD" two times.
  • Students who act as a "DD" twice will also be entered into a drawing for an expense paid trip to Las Vegas Nevada.

Promotional benefits for the establishments:

  • Web site feature promotion at NMBars.com
  • Advertisements in The Daily Lobo
  • Campus flyer and poster displays
  • Tabling promotions at various UNM events
  • Plus ... the gratitude and respect of the community that comes from taking an active role in preventing drunk driving.
