Programs | Admission | Tuition | Catalog | Courses | Resources| Forms Courses The mission of the Community and Regional Planning (CRP) Program is to plan with communities for their sustainable futures in the Southwest region through professional education, service and research. The Program's purpose is to provide future planners and professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to support planning that is responsive to people and place. Students in the CRP Program work with communities, including their own, to create community-based plans, programs and policies that sustain and enhance their culture, resource base, built environment and economic vitality. Our courses cover the theory, method, and process of planning in a variety of governmental, non-profit organization, and community-based organization settings. All of our courses place a strong emphasis on social justice and equity issues in planning. Community and Regional Planning is an interdisciplinary field, and we welcome students from a wide variety of disciplines, experiences, and philosophies. Our courses make strong use of team-based, case-based learning, and encourage active and engaged participation by students. We welcome students in our classes from across the UNM campus and from the professional and community-based planning communities.
