Laconic. Meaning: using few words, terse. Originates from Laconia-Spartan territory. The Spartan's were known for their brusque speech. The best example is the reply when Philip of Macedon wrote to Spartan magistrates: "If I enter Laconia, I will level Lacedaemon to the ground ". The Spartans' reply was " If ".
