Brum, Judy, Emily and Milo Darling's Family Events Page

The Darlings
Emily

Judy

Brum

and Milo

There have been two HUGE events for this branch of the Darling clan. On July 4, 2005 there was a great family reunion for the Darling/Francis Clans held in Ruidoso, NM. The main architect for this event was Brum. He planned every detail and it went off like clockwork.

The second HUGE event occurred on July 4, 2006 in Denali National Park in Alaska.

Ten years ago, July 4, 1996, Judy and Brum were married right in Denali National Park. The flew to Alaska, rented a camper for the major portion of their adventure. But to get into the site for the wedding they had to helicopter in! How about that?! Not only did they fly in that had arranged for a gourmet feast to celebrate the occasion.

This past July 4 the made the trip again – this time accompanied by their two beautiful children, Emily and Milo. Below are pictures of their wedding in 1996 on the left and Brum and Judy at the same site on July 4, 2006. Notice anything the same in the two pictures? (We have had to quit giving prizes for correct answers because of tax issues.)

We Do!! We Did!!

On the left is the wedding in 1996 and at the same site on the right are Judy and Brum on July 4, 2006. You can see that they learned that it is a bit cold in Denali Park even on the 4th of July!

We don't have a picture of the Copter from 1996 - the camera with those films was lost on the way home. But we do have a picture of the Copter that brought them in this time. And we have a picture of the RV they used to travel around the beautiful and exciting State of Alaska!

We're here! We do all the
work!

Obviously the two new additions for the '06 flight are Emily and Milo. On the right Brum and Milo are hard at work getting ready to cook the evening meal. Milo is using his scouting skills to build the pyramid for the fire and we have no idea what Brum is up to!

We thought we ought to show you the actual sign and pictures of all four of the Darlings - just to prove they were actually there. Which appear more venturesome - Judy and Brum or Emily and Milo?

What did they do in Alaska? Well, a lot of things. For instance they panned for gold. Now they didn't say for sure if they found any - but they didn't deny it either. And from the smiles on their face...well..you guess.

Along the way they saw at least 8 moose, a bear, a wolf, a golden eagle, a dog sled team and lots and lots of beautiful and breath taking landscapes. Emily got in some shopping along the way. She got two stuffed animals - a polar bear and a dog and a purse. I'm sure Milo made some purchases but his BIG item he brought home is a bear's skull! Well seasoned by nature.

Do I HAVE
to share? Bear with
me!

Speaking of Milo's bear skull, here it is. He found a few other bones as well and is on his way to becoming an animal archeologist, forensic pathologist, or grave robber!

And do they ever make BIG cinnamon roles in Alaska. I don't blame Milo for not wanting to share! (Just kidding, Milo is one of the best persons we know at being willing to share things with others.)

Hmmm GOOD! Cool
quarters! We might get in trouble posting this picture of Emily and the wine bottle - or we might get Emi in trouble - or her Mom and Dad - but we couldn't resist! We also wanted to show you her area of the luxurious State Room in their mobil manor (the RV). Obviously she liked it! or maybe she just found out she didn't have to do the dishes tonight! We'll have to ask her.

This's
Fun! Smile,
you're on Candid Camera!

Since we showed indivitual shots of Emi and Milo we thought we ought to have Judy and Brum represented. Unfortunately we don't have a good individual close up for Brum so we did the best we could and got a shot of Brum and Judy at their 10th anniversary celebration (when they were not with Emi and Milo!). We know this because Brum has on his wedding shirt of 10 years ago. We wonder if he will wear it for their 20th? Just asking, that's all. (An old Walter Winchell quote!)

A
WOLF! A WOLF! A WOLF Where are THEY
from!?

We got this picture of their first sighting of a wolf. Now this second picture is a mystery to us. How in the world did they get that close to the wolf - or do they really have that good of a camera?

Can we take him home? Want some?

Emi and Milo got a close look at some dogs that work the dog sleds. They got to hold a future slet dog. The whole family enjoyed the cookouts and Milo got a lot of experience using his scouting skills.

DO NOT
DISTURB! How's That?!!

Obviously Milo and Brum got some fishing in along the way. Brum caught a nice one but since we haven't heard much about their fishing prous we have a hunch they left a lot of fish for others to catch.

Wheeeee! It was good while it
lasted!

Judy and Brum posted 215 pictures on the web of their trip. We selected only a few for posting. Many, many great scenic pictures were omitted. We only show you a few of those with people (and a wolfe). On the left above is of a swinging bridge. We're sure they had a great time and view from this venue.

They really put the miles on their RV. We showed you in the first two photos the RV at the beginning. Here we show you the RV at the end of their 10th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TRIP!

Fun! Fun!
Fun! Good suit,
huh? There was another event we didn't report. Emily's and Milo's Cousin Kimberly got married in July. They are quite close so Kimberly honored them by asking them to participate in the wedding ceremony. Emily was the flower girl and Milo was the ring bearer. A close inspection will reveal that the silver basket Emily is carrying has a long family history. Emily's paternal grandmother, Mary Darling, carried this basket filled with scrolls announcing the engagement of brother, Murray, to her future sister-in-law, Marrion Buchella, in 1945. Mary was 12 years of age at the time. Emily is 9.
