Daniel was born June 6, 1831 and died Dec. 29, 1915 in Los Angeles, Ca. He married Lillie Michelieu St. Clair, a French Canadian, and she died August 30, 1895 in Newport, Ky. In 1888 they lived at 174 York St., Newport, Ky. where he was a house and sign painter. His letter says he left Berks Co., Pa., when quite young. "I could never get the people to call me anything but BrumbacK and commenced using that spelling. After I was old enough to know better it was too late -- I could not change now without possible complications. 'Brumbach' means something - 'Brumback' does not.

Following Lillie's death he remained in Newport for a number of years. In the early 1900's he moved to Silver City, NM. where his son, Ernest Michelieu Brumback resided. The altitude there (6000 ft.) was difficult for him so he moved to Los Angeles, Ca. where he passed his remaining years.

The had two children:

1. Edwin Gumbert Brumback, born Dec. 28, 1858 and died
Aug. 11, 1904.
Both birth and death were in Newport, Ky. He married and was a
music teacher in Dayton, Ky.

2. Ernest Michelieu Brumback, born Feb. 24, 1860 in Newport, Ky.
and died Jan. 24, 1928 in Deming, NM. He married Minnie Leota
Mussman of Cincinnati, Oh. He and his cousin, Clarence Johns,
owned a print shop at 120 Main Street,
Cincinnati, Oh. (This address is now the location of River
Front Statium.) Ernest and Minnie had two children:

1. Lillian Leota Brumback, born Oct. 20, 1899 in Silver City,
New Mexico and died August 8, 1982 in Deming, NM. She
married Valdimir Harris and they had one son, Donald
Brumback Harris.

2. Mary Louise Brumback, born July 16, 1905 in Silver City NM.
and died June 27, 1947 in Deming, NM. She married
(1) Wayne Roswell Darling, born July 11, 1903 in Deming, NM.,
died July 11, 1967 in Deming, NM. He was a printer and
bookkeeper. After divorce she married Leonard Cecil Francis.

There were three children by the first marriage, surname Darling:

1. Virginia Louise Darling, born March 29, 1924, Tucson, Az.
She married Arthur Kieth Rosa. They had three
children: Dona Alice Rosa, David Arthur Rosa, and Gina
Louise Rosa.

2. Duane Darling, born Oct. 2, 1925 in Deming, NM. He
married Jonelle Young in Silver City, NM. They had three
children: Peggy Rae Darling, Gary Duane Darling,
and Kenny Darling.

3. David Wayne Darling, (the author of this web site) born
Nov. 4, 1929 in Deming, NM. He married Mary Loretto Ryan
of Silver City, New Mexico in the Log Chapel,
University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, In. They had
five children: Ann Loretto Darling, Mary Lillian Darling,
David Brumback Darling, Louis Anthony Darling, and John
Duane Darling.

There were two children by the second marriage, surname Francis:

1. Charles Leonard Francis, born Aug. 3, 1936, Deming, NM.
He married (1) Helen Ingraham of Silver City, NM. They had
two children: Mercedes Francis and David Francis.
second marriage was to Simin Dokht Hayati-Fallah.
No children by this marriage.

2. Ernest Edward Francis, born June 14, 1939 in Deming, NM.
He married Anita ??? in San Antonio, TX. Together they
had three children: Heidi Francis, Tony
Francis, Kimmy Francis.
