OBJECTIVE
 To provide Paraprofessional assistance for children with special needs and assist the certified  instructors within the Special Education Classroom, Resource Room setting, regular education classroom or other special need situations as required.

EXPERIENCE
 2001-present          Special Education Paraprofessional
Paraprofessional with educational instruction and supervision for students in an emotionally disturbed/behavior disorder D-level classroom with students ranging from 3nd grade to 5th grade. Substitute, supervise and instruct in classroom while certified instructor is absent. 
Assist in a Literacy Block with students having various learning disabilities and needs for resource room, usually reading below grade level expectations.  Substitute, supervise and instruct in classroom while certified instructor is absent
Assist with educational instruction (temporary assignment) with students in a C/D-level classroom for children with SLD (sever learning disabled) for 4th & 5th grade students.

 1996-1999          Special Education Paraprofessional
Assist with educational instruction, taught and completely supervised as a one on one Para Educator with a student with an emotionally disturbed/behavior disorder after leaving a state facility.  Help re-introduce student to non-residential school setting (elementary level).
Assist certified teacher as a one on one Para Educator with student having emotionally disturbed/behavior disorder in the middle school for one semester in the Special Education Classroom. 
Assist with educational instruction with student with Autism, as well as 23 other students having special needs with various levels of disabilities in the Special Ed/Resourse room. 
Assist with educational instruction, taught and completely supervised on a one on one basis with a kindergarten student having Asperser Syndrome.  Completely facilitated instruction supervised and created specific lesson planning.
 1996-1997          Special Education Paraprofessional
One on one with a student with a medically fragile disability, who was physically impaired with special “gifted” needs.  Home schooled student after she had surgery and could not attend school for several months.  Implemented physical and occupational therapy under the direction of the occupational therapist and physical therapist while student was home-bound, and then continued with therapies with her return the regular classroom. 
Administered one on one occupational and physical therapy with a middle school student with additional needs for O.T and P.T. by with co-planning with the certified O.T. and P.T.
 1986-1996          Substitute Teacher
Assumed teacher responsibilities and duties when regular teacher was absent.  Substitute teacher for both Elementary and Middle Schools.

EDUCATION:
1971-1974 University of New Mexico Albuquerque, NM  (basics and Language Arts) 
1996-1999 – New Mexico Autism Society annual Conferences/Training for educators and families.
1998-99 – Parents Reaching Out annual Conferences/Training for educators and families. 1998-99 – International Orion Dyslexia Conferences/Training for educators and families. 2002-Present – Educational Assistant Training Leader Institute; a trainer of trainers for APS Professional Development Teaching and Learning Systems to provide sequential, quality, learning experience for Paraprofessionals on cluster in-service days and other training as needed.. 
2002-Present – Technical Vocational Institute (TVI) courses in Education meeting the No Child Left Behind Requirements for Paraprofessionals targeting a teacher certification. 
2003-Present – University of New Mexico currently completing programs with courses working towards certification in the Dual Licensure Program of Special Education/Elementary Education.

MY PASSIONS
 Special interests in working with children having Autism & Asperger’s syndrome. I also enjoy working with children having learning disabilities, medically fragile, and emotionally disturbed/behavior-disordered.
