    Class outline:
    4:20-4:30 Quick questions and quandaries. Announcements:
    • If you did not get an exceptionality category last week, you need to find someone who did but who does not yet have a partner.
    • Presentations start on Sept. 27 – please come and see me if you need help accessing resources for your project. (Note: introductory special education textbooks would be a good resource – there are a number in Zimmerman Library).
    4:30-5:00 Small group activity - Jigsaw on IDEA's 6 principles (FAPE, Zero reject, Nondiscriminatory evaluation, LRE, Due process, and parent and student participation). Groups will be assigned by Julia:
    • Provide a formal definition of your assigned proinciple.
    • Describe critical aspects of this principle, parent friendly language.
    • Discuss what this principle means from the point of view of a child, parent/guardian, and school personnel.
    Use the information provided in your readings for today and last week, Mandlawitz (2007), any resources you have, as well as information from the following sources:
