    Topic: DIEP’s, parent communication, and FERPA

    Class outline:
    4:20-4:30 Quick questions and quandaries. Announcements:
    • Take-home mid-term is due next week. Come to office hours if you have questions.
    • Download the exam (click here). Or, send Julia an e-mail and she will forward you the file as a Word attachment.
    • Complete the exam on the computer, using the computer file you download. Print it out when done (please use spell check) and turn in.
    • You must turn in your exam by 4:30 next Thursday in Hokona 273 (Jo Sanchez’s office) or Hokona 101 (Dept. office). No class that day.
    4:30-5:00 Small group activity:
    • In small groups, look over the take-home mid-term. Do NOT start answering the questions and do NOT share your answers (now or ever)! Instead:
      • Read through the directions and figure out what possible problems might occur and what you can do to overcome them.

      • Look at the different parts of the exam and determine what different strategies you will need to use for each and what resources might be helpful.
    5:00-5:20 Report out from groups
    5:20-5:30 Break
    5:30-6:45 Interactive presentation on IEP's, parent communication, and FERPA 
    6:45-6:50 Minute paper
