    Classroom-Based Assessment Grading Criteria



    Minimum Criteria:
     
      NOTE: If the instructor-provided cover sheet, listing the criteria below, is present, accurately completed, and ALL criteria have been met, student will be assigned 11 points.
       
    • My classroom-based assessment instrument assignment is typed, in 12 pt font, with 1” margins.
    • This project (or significant portions of this project) has not been turned in for a grade in another course.
    • Both a criterion-referenced instrument AND a description are included, on separate pages.
    • The assessment is either a checklist, a rating scale, or a rubric.
    • I developed the assessment instrument myself -- for example, I did not copy it out of a book or from the internet. Any resources I used develop this instrument are clearly indicated.


    My assessment description includes:

    • The purpose of the instrument (written like “This instrument is designed to assess…..).
    • The age or grade, subject area, and disabilities of the students for whom it would be applicable.
    • The type of assessment (i.e. criterion-referenced) and scoring system (i.e. rubric, rating scale, checklist).
    • Complete directions for administration and scoring/rating.


    Additional Criteria:

    • The assessment criteria are objective. (1 point)
    • The purpose of your instrument is clearly stated. (1 point)
    • The instrument meets its stated purpose. (1 point)
    • The description explains the instrument clearly. (1 point)
