    Lesson Plan Assignment



    Purpose:
    • To implement lesson planning skills developed in this course
    • To learn to select and integrate materials, methods, and classroom-based assessment into a coherent and creative lesson.


    Directions:
    You will develop one complete and detailed lesson plan, using the lesson plan format discussed in class, for use in a general education classroom which includes students identified with special education needs. You will also provide a separate, brief rationale and discussion paper (3-4 pages, including references).

    Your lesson plan must include:

    • all ten required lesson plan components (see note below about the reflection),
    • the content area and age/grade level for which this lesson would be appropriate,
    • at least one teaching strategy from those included in the intervention strategy assignment,
    • a description (or copy) of materials to be used (your materials hunt would be appropriate here),
    • at least one, well-described classroom-based assessment technique/instrument (your assessment instrument could be included here), and
    • a rationale for why you decided to teach this lesson this way.


    Your rationale/discussion should be separate from your lesson plan. It should include a detailed discussion of the decisions you made and why you made them. You should use citations from the professional literature to justify the choices you made.

    Note: As you will not actually be teaching this lesson plan this semester, you do not need to complete the last item on the lesson  plan, the reflection. However, you should include the three reflections questions, without answers.
