    First Lesson Plan Assignment

    Purpose:
The purposes of this assignment are:

    • to begin to learn to develop lesson plans that are embedded within the backward design process, and
    • to begin to use reflection as an integral part of the ongoing lesson planning process.

    Directions:
    For this assignment, you will:

      1. prepare five lesson plans (using the required lesson plan format) ,
      2. teach those lessons,
      3. take informal (handwritten) notes on your lesson plans as to how the lessons went and any changes needed, and
      4. then, on a separate page, type your answers to the three reflection questions on the lesson plan form.

    You will turn in:

      1. Photocopies of the lesson plans you used when you taught, which include your handwritten notes (taken during and after the lesson).
      2. Copies of any assessment tools, handouts, and/or overheads used.
      3. Typed responses to the three reflection questions for each of the five lesson plans.

NOTE: Your lesson plans must be detailed enough that someone unfamiliar with your classroom could come in and implement your plans.
