1999 GIS Projects
DGR will provide computer mapping and GIS support for the NM TSB's data analysis requirements. Technical enhancements to the GRNDB mapping system will be performed. Additional urban transportation databases for Aztec/Bloomfield, Bernalillo, Deming, Lovington, and Portales New Mexico using the census TIGER files and ESRI's Street Map as inital basemaps will be developed. More development will also done on an CD-ROM based Almanac/Atlas using Adobe Acrobat. Enhancements to DGR's and TSB's web pages will also made including interactive map and database display using ESRI products such as ArcView Internet Map Server, MapObjects Internet Map Server, and ArcExplorer on a Windows NT Web server.
DGR will develop ArcView applications and provide GIS consulting assistance for the New Mexico Health Policy Commission. Various elements from the Health Information System Database and the Hospital Inpatient Discharge Data (HIDD) will be displayed using ArcView. This data will be presented for county and zipcode geography. In addition, a gravity model technique for measuring geographic access to health care providers and facilities will be developed further and applied. Enhancements to the gravity model will include its development in both a SAS Macro and Microsoft Excel formats. ArcView Avenue routines will be employed to better link the gravity model with ArcView and to facilitate the display of results. The ArcView Business Analyst and associated demographic data will also be used to refine the gravity model to include more realistic "risk factors".
