APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
Application for graduate study must
include the materials identified below. If you need more information about the

A completed OGS online application and
all required registration information 2.
$50.00 Application Fee 3.
Two official transcripts of all prior undergraduate and graduate course
work; a minimum GPA of 3.0 as an undergraduate and 3.3 as a graduate is
required. 4.
Interviews with a minimum of three faculty members who have primary
appointments in the program (see list of program faculty).
Interviews will be conducted in person for local applicants and by
phone for out of town applicants. The
applicant is responsible for making the arrangements for these individual
interviews (see the list of program faculty for telephone numbers and e-mail
addresses) and for attaching a list of the faculty interviewed to the letter
of intent. The interviews are a very important component of the
application process, providing an opportunity for advising and the
determination of the match between student and faculty interests and
expertise. International
students may conduct interviews with faculty members via email. 5.
Send to the program office/Simpson Hall: A letter of intent describing the applicant’s rationale for
pursuing
the degree, the congruence between the applicant’s professional goals and
our program and faculty, and the names of the faculty with which the
applicant has interviewed (see #4 above). 6.
Send to the program office/Simpson Hall: A minimum of three letters of recommendation
describing the
applicant’s academic and professional strengths and accomplishments.
More than three letters are suggested to assure the arrival of three
letters by the application deadline date. 7.
Official score transcripts for the Graduate Record Examination Aptitude
(GRE) taken within the past 7 years. The
Miller’s Analogy Test (MAT) is
acceptable as an alternate examination. 8.
For students seeking the Ph.D.,
a sample of written work that provides evidence of the candidate's research
competence and potential. Examples include a completed master's thesis, a
published article, or a conference paper. A research proposal or a review of
research literature that you have written for a graduate course would also be
acceptable. Send writing samples to the program office/Simpson Hall. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that
all application materials have been received and are on file in Simpson Hall
by the appropriate deadlines. Applicants may check on the status of their

of Graduate Studies at least two weeks before these dates to ensure that
all materials are forwarded by OGS to us by these dates. Applicants will be notified of the faculty’s
preliminary decision on the application after its review. Final admission
occurs only after action by the Office of Graduate Studies. Once admitted to the program, it is the student’s
responsibility to make sure that the program office has up to date addresses
(home and email) and telephone numbers. The
program coordinator typically communicates important information (e.g.,
opportunities for graduate assistantships, deadlines for annual review, topic
course offerings, etc) via e-mail. For
this reason, all Educational Psychology graduate students are expected to have
an e-mail account. Upon admission, students will be added to EDPSY-L, the
