Through a generous gift, links to three nursing theories/models are provided to the 2001 PSU NUR 351 class. Students can easily access and use the models as frameworks for family data collection, analysis and discussion.
The three nursing models include those developed by Imogene King, Sister Callista Roy, and Dorothea Orem. Application of these models to family assessment is described.
Regardless of the model(s) chosen for family assessment, additional data about the family, the neighborhood, and the community should be collected because these factors can influence health of families. Students are encouraged to "dwell" with the models and make a "good faith effort" to apply them in their assignments.
